Let's Go Shopping !

Happy Thursday everyone!

On Tuesday, my parents came to town for a visit and we decided to hit
the town for lunch and shopping. We had lunch at one of our favorite spots,
Chicken Salad Chick, and then went to the At Home store and also to
Marshalls to see what was currently available in home decor.

It's always fun to browse and get inspiration for holiday decorating. And you
all know fall is one of my favorite times of the year!

Here are some things we saw while shopping....

Who's ready to decorate for fall?

I hope you enjoyed the video and I will see you tomorrow!

Let's Catch Up! Life Lately...

Here are some pictures that you might not have seen...

This is Miss S and Roomie on Day 3 (August 15, 2017) of Fall Sorority Recruitment.

They look calm and happy in this picture, but believe me, calm is not what any of
us were feeling inside. It was a fun week, but also a terribly, terribly difficult
and stressful one.  Hot temperatures, long hours, not knowing who would
accept you and who would cut you. Whew! Recruitment is not for the weak.

I'm so happy all of that is behind us and Miss S has found her sorority home!

This cute picture shows the Auburn University Alpha Gamma Delta pledge class
for Fall 2017. Don't you love seeing such happy, smiling faces?!

Miss S and her roomie had a picnic on Samford lawn before classes started last week.

They posted this picture on their instagram page, and then last Friday, the AuburnU
instagram page shared the picture again. All of their friends were texting them
about it and they were pretty excited!

On a less fun note, I am going nuts trying to get a certain adorable miniature
dachshund potty trained. He will go tinkle outside, but is just as happy to go
inside too. He tinkles teeny, tiny amounts, but he does it about 75 times a day!
I'm losing my mind over it!

He has also become a big fan of chewing lately. Just look at my rug that is under
the kitchen table.

This puppy stage is about to get the best of me. Mama needs two puppies to
settle down and give me a little break.

So that is what our life is looking like lately. Miss S having the time of her life,
and me up to my eyeballs in puppy destruction.

Someone send help! ha ha

I'll see you Thursday!

Hubby's Birthday Celebration

Hello again, and Happy Monday everyone!

Today I want to share with you the vlog I made of Hubby's birthday
celebration.

His actual birthday was on Thursday, August 24, but since Miss S was
not able to come home to celebrate with us, and all of our family
lives in a different town, we have found that we usually end up
celebrating two or sometimes three times for every occasion!

Getting together with family and friends is always fun to do, so
we are totally okay with multiple celebrations!

I hope you enjoy the vlog and I will see you back here tomorrow
for some pictures and more updates.

Have an awesome day!

It's a Nice Start

Happy Friday to you!

This blog is coming to you from my back deck today!

One reason is because the puppies are being wild and rambunctious this
morning, and the other is this delightful weather!

I know it's just a teaser and won't last for long, but I am savoring each second of
these cooler temperatures this morning. Such a nice start to the weekend.

Hubby's birthday was yesterday, so we kicked off the birthday celebration
with a delicious dinner for two at home. The crew at work had his favorite
red velvet cake for him at work yesterday too, so I think he had a pretty good
start to his birthday celebration.

We are both looking forward to going to Auburn tonight to take our sweet
Miss S out to dinner.

I've got a few errands to run and a follow up appointment with my podiatrist
concerning the progress of my plantar fasciitis this morning, so I better get
a move on. I've been loving my new shoes that I have been wearing with
my custom orthotics. I am wearing the Brooks Glycerin 15.

I took my orthotics and went to be fitted at The Trak Shak last weekend
and so far, I really like the shoes. I wear them to work each day, and also
wear them when I am cleaning or running errands. I will probably keep
an eye on these shoes online and try to get another pair in a different
color if/when they go on sale.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and I will see you back here on
Monday with a vlog of Hubby's birthday!

Thursday Thoughts

via

Let's just be super random and informal today and allow me to share some of the
various things running through my mind at the moment.

Things like...

I miss Miss S like crazy. I miss her presence in our home, and hearing all the details
of her day.  I also miss knowing when she was home, when she was sleeping,
when she was studying,  when and where she was going and what time she would
be home again.  I really, really don't like the fact that she has not had a single
vegetable since she left our home on August 11. College is not healthy for
anyone. She isn't eating properly, and my nerves are overwhelmed.

I miss our girl time...

I can't bear the thought of her getting her 1st red cup of the season with someone
else. Maybe I should plan a surprise trip to Auburn to be sure that doesn't happen?

Maybe I am being ridiculous? No, that certainly can't be it!

Apparently today is National Waffle Day? Who comes up with these things?
I have two left over pancakes in the refrigerator so I'm not planning on dragging
out my waffle maker just to celebrate the day. No offense to waffles or anything, ha.

Today is Hubby's birthday!

I'm picking up Gigi's cupcakes today and we will take them with us
tomorrow when we go to Auburn to take Miss S to dinner to celebrate.
I know he is going to miss her being here tonight to have birthday dinner,
and is sad that she won't be coming home this weekend due to her sorority
having its Sisterhood Retreat, so going to visit her on Friday is the next
best thing. (And you better believe, this mama will be buying her baby some
veggies to eat while we are there.)

Also, I am planning to make a "Happy Birthday Vlog" as we celebrate over
the next few days. Stay tuned!

I may or may not have had Pumpkin Spice creamer in my coffee this morning.
Okay, I will confess. If Pumpkin Spice makes me feel better while Miss S is
two hours away, then having Pumpkin Spice in August is what I will do!

Side note...  Watching reruns of White Collar on Netflix also makes me
feel better for a few minutes, so it is possible that I am cruising right along
through Season 3.

I guess I should get moving and be productive. I need to put out some
decorations for Hubby's birthday, do a load of laundry, but most importantly
this mama needs some exercise. I've been doing a terrible job of taking care
of myself and that needs to change!

I hope you all have a great day!

What are your favorite shows to watch over and over?

Are you ready for Pumpkin Spice season?

Classes, Eclipses and Swaps

Did anyone have an eclipse party yesterday?

No party here, just me and the fur babies watching on T.V and looking out
the windows watching the sunlight get dimmer and dimmer. I believe we had
about 93% coverage in our area, so our news station was also broadcasting live
from McMinnville, Tennessee because they were in line to have 100% totality.

This was my view on T.V...

They were saying on the news that snack foods like Sunny-D, Capri Sun, and Moon
Pies were sold out in all the local grocery stores. So funny! I'm sure all the
local elementary schools were making a full day of it though which would
explain it.

Speaking of school, Miss S had her first day of college classes yesterday. I suppose
she is an "official" college freshman now.

Last night, she had her first sorority swap. Swaps are only for freshman and are
supposed to help them get to know other freshman in a smaller setting.

The swap was 80's themed so this is what Miss S wore...

I sure miss being with her while she gets ready to go places, but this party
outfit selfie made me happy too.

As for me...

I happen to have the day off today, so I am planning to be super productive!
My plan is to start on one side of the house and clean my way through to the
other side. It's a little crazy to be looking forward to cleaning, but for some
reason I really am today. I am happy to be able to clean without watching the
clock and having to rush to work.

Well, with that said, I had better get moving before the cleaning mood passes, ha!

I will see you again on Thursday, which is also Hubby's birthday!

HAPPY TUESDAY everyone!

A Super Hot, But Super HAPPY Day!

On Friday, August 18, Hubby and I went to Auburn to see Miss S wrap up
Fall Recruitement '17. It was a long, hot, busy week for Miss S with lots of
worry and stress. Miss S went into the week with an open mind, planning to
find several sororities that she loved, but was totally and completely in love
with Alpha Gamma Delta the moment she stepped through their doors. She did
have other sororities that she really liked, but immediately her heart was with
Alpha Gam.

We went through six long, excruciating days hoping, and praying that
Alpha Gam loved her and would invite her to join them.

We were all absolutely overjoyed when Miss S opened her bid at 2:00
on Friday afternoon.

Our girl had been dreaming of joining a sorority for so long, and finally she
was invited to join the one she was over the moon in love with.

We are so happy for and proud of our girl! If you have never had a daughter
go through Recruitment week, you can not even imagine the emotional ups
and downs involved. I am so proud of the strong, intelligent daughter we have
raised. Her strength is truly an inspiration to me.

After hearing about and meeting many of the girls in Alpha Gam sorority, we are
in love with them too. Everyone told us all week, to trust the process, and more
importantly to trust the Lord and that is honestly the best advice. We know Miss
S is in the place that God put her and are so happy about that.

Here is a vlog of our day on Friday...

I am 100% positive I have never sweated more in my life, but it was all worth it!

I hope you all have a wonderful Monday, and I will see you tomorrow!

Today...

My mind is in too many places today. I can't get it settled enough to come up with
anything even remotely interesting to share.

I've got a full schedule with clients this morning, cleaning somewhere in between,
and then working a shift at the gym tonight.

Hubby and I will be leaving tomorrow morning around 6:30 a.m to head down
to Auburn for Bid Day. This has been a wild, emotional week with Sorority
Recruitment, but we are all praying that the stress and worry will be worth it
tomorrow when Miss S finds her Sorority home.

I hope to be here on Monday with some happy and exciting news!
I want to wish all of you a happy weekend!

Yay Me! I Was Productive!

Hello again everyone!

I actually was productive, between bouts of sadness and feeling sorry for
myself. I did actually get the College Move-In Week Video done.

I am putting zero pressure on myself this week and am allowing myself to
feel whatever feelings that come up. There will be plenty of time to tackle
my "to do" lists, but for this week, I am giving myself a free pass to handle
this time of transition anyway that feels right.

So far there has been lots of prayer, lots of pacing, and lots of White Collar
watching on Netflix, ha ha.

I appreciate you all for being patient with me as I find my new version of "normal."
Who knows, maybe driving to Auburn three times a week IS an acceptable form
of coping. Ha, I promise I am kidding!

Thanks for reading today and if you watch the video, I appreciate that as well.
I will see you on Thursday!

Riding a Roller Coaster

Life lately has been one giant roller coaster of emotions.

(source)

I know you all are tired of my whining, but having my one and only child move
away to Auburn last Friday has been a lot to deal with. Also, she is going through
Rush right now, and that is a pretty huge stressor for all of us as well. I go back and
forth between telling myself, "You are okay. You can do this" to the next second
blubbering and saying things like, "I want my baby, I want my baby."

Yep, this mama is having a hard time. Not that I am surprised at all, but it hurts just
the same.

I want to share a quick picture or two of Miss S in her dorm, then I will try to pull
myself together to work on a video. I videoed parts of our week, of the move, and
of the move in, so I will be back to share them as soon as I can get it all put together.

Miss S's new room...

I am so proud of my girl. She is smart, funny, beautiful, kind, and so
incredibly strong. I know God has a wonderful plan for her life, I'm just
a little sad that 18 years passed by so quickly. I just wasn't ready for our
precious lives to change so drastically. I wanted to hold on to her here forever.

This article explains a good deal of what is in my heart right now.
WARNING:  If you don't want to cry, then you may want to skip over visiting

Have an awesome day and I will see you again soon!

A Mess From My Head To My Toes

I'm a little bit of a mess this morning because this will be Miss S's last
Friday at home before she moves away to college. I can not even
believe this dreaded time is only 6 days away. I can not even put into
words the level of emotions that I am feeling right now.

In the midst of all the "almost time to move Miss S" drama, I finally
worked up the courage to see a doctor about my suspected plantar fasciitis.
The problem has progressively gotten worse to the point that I have not
only altered my activity level, but my life. The pain is terrible, and more
frequent than it ever has been. Walking is unbearable, standing is unbearable,
and nothing I tried to do at home was making much difference.

So, after struggling with the pain for M O N T H S, I decided to suck it up
and go see a doctor.

They did x-rays and an ultasound of the fascia in my foot.

Thankfully nothing is torn, but the doctor was quite surprised with how
high the arches in my feet are. My arches are so high, that my heel tilts
backwards rather than sitting straight. He was not surprised at all that I was
having pain after looking at my x-rays.

Here is what my foot print looks like when I stand. The parts in red show the
pressure on my feet when I am standing. You can see that much of the outer
part of my foot does not touch the ground at all due to my high arches.

The doctor gave me a prescription for a strong anti-inflammatory, some exercises to do,
and I placed an order for custom orthotics to put in my shoes. He told me to never, every
walk around with bare feet, and to never wear flip flops. He said shoes without a good
arch support would never be my friend! Once my orthotics come in, I will need to go
get fitted for a good pair of Asics or New Balance shoes, and will have to find a pair
that my custom orthotics will fit in.

Here are the stretches that I will be doing as well.

I was so relieved that he didn't mention cortisone shots in my foot! So many people
has said that is what he would want to do and I was not happy with the thought
of that at all!

I happily took my prescription, my exercise sheet, and paid for my orthotics.
Anything to avoid that shot! I have read so many mixed reviews on it that I
knew I did not want to go that route.

Hopefully all of these prescribed treatments will kick in quickly so that I
can be of some help next week. I know it will be a busy/crazy/stressful/chaotic
time, and I certainly don't want to have terrible foot pain adding even more
drama to the list.

I won't be blogging next week because we have SO MUCH to do in the
next 6 days to get ready for Move-In Day.

We will be leaving home about 5:45 a.m next Friday morning to head to
Auburn. Miss S's move in time begins at 8:00 a.m and her roommates time
begins at 8:30. I would so greatly appreciate thoughts, prayers and well wishes
as we prepare to embark on this next chapter of our lives.

Miss S and her roomie are SO excited and ready for the big move!

I will miss you all next week, but I feel that my main focus and priority
needs to be with Miss S and with our family. I will take lots and lots
of pictures and will be back on Monday, August 14 to catch you up on
how everything went.

Thank you for following our journey. As sweet and faithful readers, you know I
have been dreading this move for over a year! You probably remember when
I thought her graduating from high school was going to be more than I could
handle....

I will try to post a few times on Facebook if I can get myself together
enough to do so!

And don't forget....

Lots of good stuff coming up this weekend on Hallmark Channel!

Love at the Shore comes on Saturday night, and Chesapeake Shores is back on
Sunday night.

Have a great weekend and I will see you again on
Monday the 14th!

Don't Do It - 2 Products to Avoid

Happy Thursday everyone!

Today I want to warn you about two products that I have bought lately that I
will absolutely NEVER, EVER buy again.

This toilet paper by Charmin...

And these razors by Schick...
I ended up with these products when I was ordering my groceries online
from Walmart Grocery. For some reason, my normal toilet paper and razors
were not showing up on the website. I then wrongly assumed that substituting
with either of these two items would be just as good as what I normally buy.

Once again, I learned the lesson of never assuming anything!

The Charmin Basic toilet paper is not soft, and is thin. It just feels like the cheap
toilet paper that you find in public bathrooms. Shame on you Charmin for putting
your name on this product. I am very disappointed that this product found its way
into our home.   I will be sure to not make that mistake again!

As for the razors, they do smell amazing with their Raspberry Rain scent, and
props to Schick for the pretty pink color, but that is where the compliments from
me end. In my opinion, they are just terrible razors. When I try to use them to shave
my legs, I have to go over and over the same spot repeatedly and having to do that
takes so much more time. For whatever reason, they just do not shave well. The razor
burns as it glides over my legs, even on the second use. When I am able to replace these
with my favorite brand, these Schick razors will find themselves in the garbage can!

Just in case you are curious, here are the brands that I normally use and love...

and my favorite razors are...

I would never have thought that such a seemingly slight substitution would
make such a difference but it absolutely does. Enough so that I have taken
to my blog to talk about toilet paper of all things, ha ha!

Thanks for reading today and please keep those comments coming!
I love hearing from you. :)

What products are you picky about?

Have you ever substituted a product and been extremely disappointed?

What are you favorite, non-negotiable brands?

Have a wonderful day!
