18 is Here!

Miss S turns 18 today!

Her big day has her feeling like this...

Her big day has me at a total loss for words! I just can't believe 18 years has passed
in the blink of an eye. Since I am in a slight state of shock today, let's talk a look back
at Miss S over the past few years.

Let's just flash back to when we moved to the Birmingham area. Miss S was
beginning the sixth grade, and she received 1st alternate in a pageant that she
did. (She is still irritated even now that she didn't win, lol!) I thought she looked
beautiful!! This was the beginning of my girl coming out of her shell.

Miss S at age 12...

Here is my sweet girl during her preppy phase around age 13...

She got her braces off just in time for her 14th birthday, in 2013! I'm pretty sure I cried
on this day too because my baby was growing up and time was passing so quickly.
Man, parenting is an emotional roller coaster!

and then 16...

and 17...

Then the year that I had been dreading since she started the 9th grade...

Senior Year:

So today, it has happened. My girl is turning 18 years old. She is counting down the
days until high school graduation, and the days until she moves away to college.

I'm trying to keep it together, even though I can not imagine how strange life is going
to be without her here sleeping in her bed in her room each night.

I am so proud of the strong, confident, intelligent woman she is becoming. She
is bold in what she believes and has a good level head on her shoulders.

I am proud and happy for her, but at the same time, if I could slow time down just
a bit, I certainly would!

Happy 18th birthday Miss S! You are my world!

Since she had her birthday party with friends a couple of weeks ago, we are going to
dinner as a family tonight to celebrate her big day.

Remember there is a new Hallmark movie Saturday night at 8:00 Central Time or
9:00 Eastern Time. If you won't be home, set your DVR! It's about a German
Shepherd, so you know I'll want to watch!

Happy Friday, and happy weekend everyone.

Day 3 Wore Me Out!

Hello again from Nashville!

Whew! Yesterday was a busy, and tiring day. We covered a lot of ground yesterday.

We saw Belmont and Vanderbilt University. We rode around the Hillsboro Village area,
we went to the Parthenon at Centennial Park. We went to an area called The Gulch,
and then back to 12 South. We finished up our day at Soulshine Pizza Factory.
We saw a lot yesterday, despite the amount of traffic we had to fight in order to
see it. I mean, Nashville is like Birmingham on steroids!

I was busy trying to keep up, so I didn't do the best job of taking pictures, but
I will share with you what I did get. :)

The Parthenon:

Lunch at Fresh To Order:

We all had salads, which were phenomenal!

This is Miss S's salad with grilled salmon on top...

Shopping, sightseeing and a mural at The Gulch:

Then to West End for a coffee break at Three Brothers Coffee.

Another cool place for pictures, and our Iced Vanilla Lattes were very good.

Next, Miss S wanted to head back to the 12 South area.

By this time, I was getting a blister on my foot and was just about worn out.

We headed back to the house to rest for a bit and let me change footwear.

To finish off our busy day, we had dinner at Soulshine Pizza.

My pizza was called "The Kitchen Sink" because it had all the available toppings on it.
Too fun, and a really, really good pizza!

They had gluten free pizza too, so Miss S was able to enjoy a good pizza for the first
time in months.

I finished up my night with a little Netflix before bed.

Nashville is a busy and fast-paced place, but Miss S absolutely loves it.

The rest of us may need a vacation from our vacation, haha!

We will be heading home tomorrow, but I will try to pop in on Friday. Miss S turns
18 on Friday too. Oh my, my, my. Someone hold me.

Have a wonderful day!

Nashville, Day 2

Happy Tuesday everyone. I hope this blog post finds you all doing well. I wanted
to pop in to catch you up on some of what we did on Day 2 of our Spring Break
trip to Nashville.

With rain and thunderstorms looming in the forecast, we chose indoor activities
to ensure we would stay dry. We spent a little bit of time at the Opry Mills Mall
which is overwhelmingly HUGE. Around lunch time, we left the mall to head
over the the Opryland Hotel for lunch. This hotel has to be one of the most beautiful
places I've ever seen, so please if you have never been, consider planning a trip there
soon. I would consider it a must see destination.

After a delicious lunch in the scenic Cascades Atrium at a restaurant called
Cascades American Cafe, we explored a bit more, then headed back to our rental house
for a bit to relax. After a brief rest, we freshened up and headed down to the 12 South
area for dinner at Bartaco.

My pictures from our day...

Dessert at Sprinkles:

and... my chocolate marshmallow cupcake to go:

We had a fabulous Day 2 of our Spring Break!

Here are a few more pictures found via the internet that are just so good, I had to share...

Bartaco was so good! We all agreed that we would like to go here again before
we leave to head back home. The chicken tacos and the portabello muchroom
tacos were delicious, and the guacamole was amazing too. Add this restaurant
to you list of things to do when you plan your next trip to Nashville.

Have a wonderful day, and I will try to pop in again tomorrow!

Ready, Set, Explore!

Hello and welcome back! The weekend was a quick one and it looks like Monday is
here again. Our Monday is a Spring Break Monday which totally trumps a regular
Monday. Miss S is rushing me along and wants to get back to exploring Nashville,
but before we go, I want to quickly recap our quiet weekend.

Friday and Saturday were stay home days for me, and they were wonderful!

While I was soaking and relaxing in my whirlpool tub, Hunter brought me his bone.
He wanted me to play tug of war with him, but then he accidentally dropped his bone
in the tub with me! Just look at the look of confusion on his cute face!

That boy knows how to make his Mama smile. He is a total love bug.

Our other little love bug has a new place to play. We have a sleeper sofa in our guest
bedroom, and we were playing on the floor in there (safely out from under Hunter's big
lab feet) and since Roo loves to jump and climb so much, I pulled one of the sofa cushions
down to the floor for him to play around on. He had a ball running and jumping up on the
cushion, and finally took a break to rest and chew on his little puppy bone.

His sweet little face just begs for unlimited kisses!

Miss S had to sneak in and give him some snuggles because he is just so adorable.

Sunday, we took selfies from Nashville.

Yesterday we explored an area called 12 South and Miss S was loving it. The area is
young and hip and she was in her element. I think my girl is imagining herself living
in Nashville someday....sigh.  That day is coming faster than I ever thought it would,
that's for sure.

Well, Miss S is rushing us and is ready to head our for more Nashville exploration.

I will see you tomorrow!
