A Look Back at January '17

My goodness, where did the month of January go? It is crazy to think that tomorrow
will be February 1st.

This means good news for you Mom...

Before we start on a brand new month, let's recap all that went on around here
in January...

Note to self: I need to wrap up my reading and tell you about this book!

I think that about covers the ins and outs of our January.

February will kick off with doctor's appointment for Hubby. Hopefully he will
get all good news and there will be absolutely nothing to report there.

Miss S seems to be doing a bit better after starting the acid blocker medication.
We have also cleaned up her eating plan even more, and that could be another
reason she is feeling better. She has had to give up a lot of her favorite things,
and planning meals has gotten considerably more difficult, but we are taking it
one day at a time. It is worth it to keep my child from having stomach pains.
(or at least lessen the pain.)

Have a great day, and I will see you on Thursday!

A Netflix and Visitation Weekend

Happy Monday everyone!

It was a Netflix, FaceTime, and visitation kind of weekend for us.

On Friday, I loaded the dishwasher, got the washer and the dryer going and
then snuggled up on the couch to enjoy a little R & R. Netflix was perfect to fill
that need.

I spent lots of time this weekend watching two really awesome shows!

I started re-watching Burn Notice. It was my absolute favorite show on the planet
several years ago, so I was excited to get back into it again. Michael and Fiona have
to be the absolute coolest characters ever!

I also started White Collar. I have no idea how I missed this show when it was
originally on T.V, but I am absolutely LOVING it on Netflix. Like Burn Notice,
the cast is perfect and the characters grab your attention from the absolute get go.
I would definitely say I am hooked.

Rusty spent time staying warm in his new navy sweater. I am pretty sure he should
have a job as a pet sweater model. Be still my heart, he is precious!

Mom is still recovering in the hospital from her surgery on Wednesday, and we
finally figured out we could FaceTime instead of just talking over the phone.
Dad is learning all kind of new tricks to do with an iphone!

Miss S took Hunter to the park for a walk on Saturday afternoon. It would be hard to
say which one of them had more fun.

He loves to get lots of exercise and loves spending time with his sissy!

Sunday was my dad's birthday, and also seemed like a good day to visit mom in
the hospital. Hubby had to be at church, but Miss S and I headed out to see Mom
and Dad. We had a good visit, and mom even walked up and down the hall of the
hospital. We are hoping she will get to go home in the next day or two.

We wrapped up our Sunday night back at home. Hubby, Miss S and I had dinner
together, then Hubby and I watched another couple of episodes of White Collar.

There is LOTS to do today. (Maybe too much time was spent Netflixing this
weekend?)

Oh well, all work and no play makes for a dull life, isn't that what they say?
Yes, that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

I'm linking up here and here today, then I'm off to get to work on that to-do list.

Hope you all have a wonderful Monday!

Friday Favorites: Cozy Decor

Happy Friday everyone!

Not only does today kick off the weekend...

It's also time for Friday Favorites!

Today, we are going to take a look at our Winter Decor because being COZY is one
of my favorite things! I love when the weather cools off and it is finally time to curl
up with a soft, furry blanket and a cup of coffee, tea, or hot cocoa.

I wanted to share my decor with you today because most likely, by this time next week,
it will all be gone and Valentine Decor will take its place. With a Valentine Birthday, it's
kind of hard not to go over the top with Valentine decor! :)

Here is our family room dressed for winter. Twinkle lights and soft, cozy, faux fur
pillows and blankets for snuggling are a must.

I love my little winter trees from Target. I also love that I was able to get them for 75%
off their regular price after Christmas.

This white furry throw is from Hobby Lobby and the pillow is from Target.

Miss Shelley wants everyone to be clear that THIS chair is hers, and SHE wants to
be the ONLY fur on it, ha!

Not even kidding, she loves this chair and when we are all together in the family room,
she will come and sleep in her chair with us. She is the sweetest!

Our kitchen table is simply decorated with a white furry runner from Hobby Lobby,
and another little tree from Target.

Our dining room table also has a little glow thanks to this garland of twinkle
lights from the Target dollar spot.

Our foyer is decorated with a simple outdoor "Winter Wonderland" theme.

Also around our house, you will find soft faux fur pillows and blankets. The blankets
from Pottery Barn are absolutely beautiful, and without a doubt are of exceptional
quality, but with two doggies and a cat in our home, we prefer to be a little more frugal
with our home accessories. I have been lucky to have found all of our faux fur blankets
at places like TJMaxx, and Target.

Here is Shelley getting a closer look at our cozy faux fur blanket from Target...

I am happy that our weather is finally giving us a little touch of winter. We are actually
going to have highs in the 50's all weekend so while Hubby is outside hunting, I will
be snuggled up with my faux fur decor and my sweet fur babies!

Wishing you a cozy weekend!

Thanks for reading today!

What A Day!

Yesterday started off like any typical Wednesday. Hubby and I were up around
6:00 a.m, then Miss S was up by 6:30. Hubby was showering and getting ready
for work, and I was drinking coffee and packing a lunch for Miss S to take to school.

We all made it out the door by 7:20 without too much rushing and chaos. I headed
to work and then after my health coach shift I headed to the grocery store. I made it
home around 12:30 and began the dreaded task of hauling all of our groceries from
the car up the stairs to the kitchen.

As I got to Hunter's kennel, this is the surprise I found...

The silly dog had apparently gotten pretty bored while I was out during the morning
and took it out on his bed.

After I cleaned up Hunter's mess, and just as I was finishing up lunch, my phone rang.
I was a little surprised to see that it was a call from my Dad. Usually Mom and I call
each other and Daddy will listen in and add a few things to the conversation here
and there. When I answered the phone, he needed a moment to collect himself, and
my heart sank to my feet. He began telling me that my Mom had been sick all evening
Tuesday, and even into Wednesday morning. He had taken her in to the Emergency
Room around 6:30 Wednesday morning. They were still doing tests at this point, but
he knew unexpected surgery would be needed.

I got Hubby on the phone and fell apart! He told me to get ready and he would
drive me to the hospital to be with my mom and dad. Thankfully, we made the 1 1/2
hour drive to the hospital in time to see her before her surgery.

When I saw my sweet Daddy there hovering over my mom taking care of her, my
heart was so full. And then I noticed in the rush to get her to the hospital that he had
forgotten to put on a belt. Now if you know my dad, you KNOW that his appearance
is always 100% spot on perfect, so for him to have forgotten a belt just showed me how
upset and worried he was about my mom. I tear up now just thinking about it. They have
loved and cared for each other for over 51 years, and I am so very blessed to have parents
that love each other like that! They are so sweet to each other and so precious to me.

Okay, I am getting off track, and all choked up all over again!

Mom was taken to emergency surgery and they discovered that her appendix had ruptured.
I won't go on and on with any more details, but the surgery went well, and she spent
Wednesday night in ICU and had a good night. We are not sure if she will move to a
regular room later today or not. (All the hospital rooms are full! So sad!)

I appreciate you reading today, and for all your prayers.  I am praying she will heal
quickly and will have no complications. Mom loves being at home as much as I do,
so I know she is ready to get out of that hospital and back into her own bed.

As long as everything continues to go well, I will see you back here tomorrow
morning. Happy Thursday!

Tuesday Ramblings

This little man had a birthday on Saturday! My little precious is now
12 years old!

This picture was from Christmas, so I need to be sure to get another current one soon.

Hunter's new favorite activity is to bring his chew toy to you, drop it on you, and expect
for you to hold it while he chews. He managed to get Miss S to play along with his new
favorite activity Saturday morning. Would you say he is smart, or would you call that
spoiled? haha

He also loves to carry two toys around in his mouth. One just simply is not enough.
I guess he wants to be sure he always has something to play with, ha.

Hunter will be 10 months old next week. Time is flying by!

Miss S had an Upper GI Endoscopy done yesterday morning and then spent the
rest of the day resting on the couch at home.

All of her results came back "normal." The doctor assures us that this is GOOD
NEWS, and that we should continue to reassure her that everything is okay. With
all the tests she has been through in the past three months, and everything coming
back normal, he assures us that this is a very good thing. His official diagnosis of
all of her pain and trouble is "Functional Dyspepsia." We were told to research all
we could about it so we are reading things like this, and this. From what we are learning,
there is really no known cause and no known cure. It is just something that Miss S will
have to learn to manage with careful diet and lifestyle choices. Acid blocking medicines
help some patients, so he prescribed one for her and we will see him again in one month.

Hubby and I are still baffled, and are trying to trust the doctor and his "everything is
good" diagnosis, but let me just say I'm keeping my eyes wide open on this one. I hope
he is right, and praying that the acid blocking medicine and "keep reassuring her"
approach will help her feel better, but.... We will see what happens in the next month.

So that is where we are today. Trying to relax and trust her doctor and of course the
Great Physician. Also trying to stay away from social media a bit right now. Everything
out there is just so toxic right now. The talk in and around the Inauguration on Friday
is just sickening. I won't say anymore about it, but I am trying to stay away from so
much negativity, It certainly isn't helping anyone. I am proud to be an American, but
sad that our world is the way that it is at this time. I much prefer positivity and peace.

Happy Tuesday all, and I will see you on Thursday!
