Food Group Friday and Saturday Shopping

Happy Monday!

When we last talked on Friday, I mentioned that Miss S had headed off to school
dressed as Miracle Whip because some two of her friends were dressing up as
hot dogs and hamburgers for their school's Halloween dress up day.

Here is Miss S...

Here are the friends all dressed up too...

We've got Miracle Whip, ketchup, mustard, salt, pepper, a cheeseburger, bacon, a
hot dog, a banana for dessert, and even a chef to prepare it all, haha. They had a blast.

Friday night was much less exciting. Miss S babysat all evening, Hubby spent the
night away so he would only have a 10 minute drive to get to his favorite hunting
spot, and I spent a quiet evening at home with Netflix and the fur babies. A quiet
night at home was 100% okay by me though.

#homebodyatheart

Saturday was a girls shopping day. Miss S and I headed out about 10:30 Saturday

Our first stop was here...

Miss S picked out a couple of things to get for Christmas, and then had fun
spending some of her babysitting money.

I have had my eyes on this eye shadow palette and even had it in my hands several times...

but I just couldn't justify spending $45 on it. It is so pretty, but I already
have the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette so I just couldn't justify buying this
one just because it is beautiful.  I don't really need it, so I chose to leave
it behind. Gosh, why do I have to be so practical, haha.

After Sephora, we headed over to Belk so Miss S could drool over the
Free People section.

Free People clothing is all the rage at Miss S's school, so she has to check out the
sale section at Belk any time we get near it. My girl is a smart shopper and rarely
pays full price for such pricey brands. I am proud that she is conscientious
and tries to find deals as often as possible.

#smartcookie

Next up was one of my favorites...

I was a little disappointed that none of their new scents really tempted me.
I actually left the store empty handed.

#shocking

We also went to these stores:

When we left The Summit, you all know where we went next.

Any guesses?

Anyone?

I bet you guessed it.

Did you guess Target?

If you did, you are a winner and you a faithful reader!

Well that about wraps up the fun parts of our weekend. The rest was not particularly
share worthy, so I will bring this post to a close.

Thanks for checking in with us today. I hope you have a happy Monday,
and a...

See you tomorrow!

Helllllo Friday!

Thank goodness it's Friday!

This has been one crazy week around here. I can't quite put my finger on the
exact day or time that everything went south for us, but nonetheless it surely
did. I am happy to see the weekend on the horizon! Hopefully we can regroup
and take things at a little slower pace next week.

But, TODAY, it is time for some favorites!

This has been my favorite manicure for the past couple of weeks.

I know there are different opinions on whether glitter polish is in or out right now,
but I love the sparkle of the gold and silver with the nudey mauve polish.
Sparkle makes me happy and is still a winner in my book. :)

While we are on the subject of sparkle, I found these glasses at Target this week
and I absolutely love them. I just knew I would be sad if I left these gold sparkle
confetti glasses behind. I've been drinking out of them all week, and they just
make me happy!

Also at Target, are these hilarious food Halloween costumes...

The pizza, french fries, and hot dog are adorable, but my favorite has to be the
bacon and eggs. Oh my goodness that costume makes me chuckle!

They are dressing up today at Miss S's school and two of her friends are dressing
up as a hot dog and as a hamburger. Miss S and a few others decided they would be
the condiments that go along with the hot dog and burger.

Miss S dressed as Miracle Whip today!

Ohhhhh teenagers! Haha!

I'm going to end this post on that note, and get going with my to do list.
The sooner I get in and OUT of the grocery store, the sooner I can begin
to enjoy my weekend!

Thanks for reading today, and I hope to see you again on Monday!

Eeeek!

Oh my goodness! It is already Thursday, and I am supposed to have a blog post
ready for you on Thursdays.

Eeeek!

This has been one of those weeks where you almost forget if you are coming
or going. It's been a wild and busy week for sure.

I don't have much 'share-worthy' material for you, but I will share with you a
few people I have been watching lately on YouTube. I don't get the time to
watch every day, but when I do find a few minutes, these are three of the people
I try to keep up with. I hope to be able to slow down and watch their newest
videos today or tomorrow.

Here's what I'm excited to watch next,  in case you want to watch too!

I have 10 or so people that I will watch as time allows. Most YouTuber's post
one or maybe two videos per week, so watching doesn't take up as much time as
it sounds like it might, and it is so funny how attached you get to these people.
You feel like they are actually people you know! It's kind of crazy, haha.

Alright, it is now 1:45 on Thursday afternoon, and I am going to eat some lunch
and then in a few hours, I will be making Vegetable Beef Soup for dinner.

(Let's all just pretend that it isn't 84 degrees outside right now and instead
pretend that the weather actually feels like fall. Then, the Vegetable Soup sounds
like a much better idea!)

I fully plan to see you back here tomorrow. I'm not sure yet, what we'll be
talking about, buy I plan to be here! I hope to see you back too. :)

Hope you are having a great Thursday!

Truth Tuesday - A Dupe Don't

I make no promises about the quality or content in the blog post. This morning
started off as one big hot mess, and I am still dazed from the aftermath. My
nerves are still frazzled!

It all started when Hubby got up around 5:15 this morning. He normally
gets up at 6:00. and I stay in bed until around 6:20-6:30. Well, THIS morning,
the dog's assumed that 5:15 was really 6:00, so they immediately went into
"everyone wake up, let's eat, and play, and party" mode.

Rusty started his coughing fits, and Shelley started snarling and hissing because
Hunter was 100% wide awake. Then Hunter randomly got choked up and yakked
in our bedroom floor. ALL of this before 5:30 in the morning is a LOT to deal with
for anyone, especially this non-morning person girl.

Sometimes just living in our house is exhausting! This morning was one of
those times, for sure.

Everything with four furry legs seems to be settled for the moment, so I am going
to try to talk about a beauty product to avoid. I will call it a "Beauty Dupe" fail.

I've been investigating "Beauty Dupes" on Pinterest lately. I figure with a child
heading to college next year, I could help out our situation just a little by finding
some regular, drug store make up products that work as well as the high end,
expensive ones.

I was running out of my usual mascara and thought I would experiment with
a "dupe" according to Pinterest.

I usually use this mascara...

It has been my favorite for years, and works beautifully on me, so as I type this post,
I am questioning why I felt the need to try something different,
but nonetheless, I did, so let's continue...

I have been hearing SO MUCH hype about two high end mascaras.
Miss S has this one by benefit, and loves, loves, loves it...

available here for $24

I also hear lots of hype about this mascara from Too Faced...

available here for $23

Well, the crazy urge to experiment with mascara began when I saw this...

While grocery shopping over the weekend, I bought the mascara "dupe" from
Rimmel. Now granted, I have never tried the expensive version by Too Faced,
but I CAN tell you that I will never, ever buy the Rimmel again.

The applicator wand is HUGE. I mean scary and intimidating huge.

WHY oh WHY would anyone want to come at their eye with an applicator that
is this big and fluffy? I hated it and it was terrifying. Never mind that the result of
using the mascara dupe was very disappointing, It was not nearly as good as my old
faithful Maybelline mascara.

But, before throwing the Rimmel Scandeleyes away, I took it to Miss S to try,
She opened it, approached the mirror, and immediately said, "Oh my gosh, this
is so scary!"  I had not said a word to her about it, and she had the exact same
thoughts about the applicator wand that I did.

I am tempted to give up on looking for "dupes" because by the time I try
three or four of them, I have spent the same amount that I would have spent
on buying the actual high end product.

I don't want to overreact, or give up too soon though, so I will keep you
posted. If I find an affordable product that I really love, I will let you know!

Do you like trying new products, or do you stick to your tried and true favorites?

Is there a "dupe" that you have tried and love?

I will see you Thursday!

Weekends Are For Selfies?

Hello and welcome to a new week!

When I last saw you, on Friday, I was about to head out to get my hair cut.
I am a chronic ponytail user, and keep searching for a style that will allow
me to wear my hair down without losing my mind.

Here I am before my hair appointment....wearing my hair partially pulled back
in a ponytail holder. (Yes, this is my "fancy" hairstyle, and yes this is a salon
bathroom selfie, haha.)

Here is what went down while I was in the chair...

And here is a "look at me now" selfie after my appointment...

I love it! My hair feels light, bouncy, and full of life.

When I got home, I asked Miss S to assist me by taking an "after" picture.
Clearly I will be the next big fashion blogger! ha!

After our little mini photo session, Miss S got ready to head out to the
high school football game. Her team won again and is now qualified to
play in Round 1 of the playoffs. They even get to host the playoffs on
their home field. All of the seniors are pretty excited that they get one
more game at home! It was a happy night for the Hornets!

- Saturday -

I was loving my new style so much that I tried to snap a selfie with Hunter
on Saturday. Let me just tell you... If you want a picture with this almost 7
month old wild man, you had better snap fast! He never stops moving.

 - Sunday -

After church on Sunday, Hubby, Miss S and I had lunch at Logan's Roadhouse.

There was a huge floor to ceiling mirror in the bathroom that Miss S and I
couldn't resist. (And...I'm not wearing a ponytail holder!)

Time for more selfies!

Take 1.... I'm looking in the mirror, Miss S is looking at the phone.

Take 2... Now Miss S is looking in the mirror and I am looking down at the phone.

Take 3.... well, lets just say the moment had passed, and Miss S wasn't
feeling selfies with mom anymore, haha. Look at that expression!

So, we weren't able to capture the perfect pic, but can we talk about Miss S's
snakeskin booties for a second?

Are they not completely and totally amazing?! Oh my goodness I love them, and
at the risk of completely horrifying my daughter, I would seriously add them to my
Christmas list if they were not sold out everywhere in my size.

If you are interested, you can check for your size here.

Oh well, for the sake of fashion, it pays to be an impulse shopper.
The one that waits around is the one wearing plain solid black booties
in the above pic.  Sigh.

I'm linking up with Katie for MiMM, so pop over and check out her link up.

Thanks for reading today and I hope to see you back tomorrow.
I hope your Monday will be marvelous!

Friday Favorites

H A P P Y  Friday everyone!

Who's ready for a little Friday Favorites fun?

*cue cheering and clapping  ;)

My favorite quote from the week is this one found on Pinterest...

Please and thank you!

Ha! Isn't it just perfect? Describes my feelings to a T!

After the interstate grass fire that we had in the Birmingham area yesterday, I am a bit
apprehensive about leaving home right now. We are at a Stage 3 drought level in our area
and it is a bit scary. Traffic was a complete mess for hours last night as people were trying
to get home from work. I was so thankful to be a safe distance from the chaos.

If you need me this weekend, I will be right here enjoying some dachshund
snuggles. Definitely one of my favorite things!

Another favorite thing is when my daughter surprises me by bringing me an
iced Pumpkin Spice Latte. She always knows just how to make my day. I love
my girl and I love a good PSL!

Let's continue our foodie theme with other yummy favorites from the week.

This salad has been my favorite go to lunch this week.

Spinach, grilled chicken, avocado, purple grapes, strawberries, cherry tomatoes,
a few glazed pecans, and a sprinkle of grated cheese, topped with a raspberry
vinaigrette dressing. So good!

And at work, I've been snacking on this fun yogurt flavor. We all know you need
something to make work more fun, ha!

I guess that about wraps up my favorites from the week. I need to squeeze in a
quick workout before I head out for a hair appointment this afternoon.
As for the rest of our weekend... who knows!

I'm sure it will look something like this:

high school football tonight

Hubby hunting in the morning

college football tomorrow afternoon/evening

church on Sunday

Now, we just need to decide the rest of our plans for the weekend.
(other than lots of doxie snuggles)

Have a great Friday and a fun-filled weekend!

Hello Thursday!

Hello again everyone!

I am happy that it is Thursday because Thursday = Friday Eve!

Thursday, for me, means only one more day of work before I can slow down
a little and catch up on things around the house.

There isn't too much to share from my end today. I don't think you would
care to hear about my "things to do" list....nothing exiting or newsworthy
at all about doing laundry, dishes, dusting, or vacuuming.

Lots of craziness is coming soon though.

- We are 11 days away from Halloween.

(I can only imagine what Miss S and friends will come up
with for celebrating Halloween!)

- We are 19 days away from the election.

-  We are 34 days from Thanksgiving.

-  We are 36 days away from the Iron Bowl.

- We are 66 days from Christmas.

- We only have 71 days left in 2016.

Can you believe 2017 is so close? We all know what happens in May of 2017,
and I certainly don't want to think about that today!

So...

Enough rambling from me, let me just share a song that I am loving lately.
I love the upbeat tempo and inspiring message.

Happy Thursday to you and I will see you tomorrow!

Busy Girl's Guide to Nail Polish Removal

If you are like me and love the way your nails look when they are perfectly
painted, then this post is for you. I feel so much more polished and put
together when my nails are done, but would much prefer doing them myself
at home over heading to the nail salon on a regular basis.

The noise of multiple conversations happening at once, the strong smells of
multiple people using nail polish remover at once, and people speaking a language
I don't understand, is not my idea of a relaxing time. I feel tense and stressed,
rather than relaxed and pampered.

This little hack is so good that you will never dread doing your own nails at
home again! When your current nail polish starts to chip, use this simple tip to
remove it effortlessly and paint them fresh again.

Miss S taught me this super simple tip and it has made my life so much easier.
With this hack, nail polish removal is a breeze. No more rubbing and scrubbing,
and smearing, and fighting with the old polish you are trying to remove.

Simply start with the nail polish remover of your choice, 5 cotton balls, and a
pair of scissors.

Use the scissors to cut each cotton ball in half. 5 cotton balls when cut in half
will give you 10 cotton ball pieces.

To effortlessly remove your polish, simply apply nail polish remover to each cotton
ball and press the saturated pieces on your painted nails.

Let this sit on your nails for about 45 seconds, (no need to be exact) and
them simply wipe clean.

Voila`!

Yes, it really is that easy!

Next, simply repeat the process on your other hand. I have been using this simple,
easy tip for several months and it works like a charm every single time.

I can assure you that with this simple tip, you will never dread removing your
own nail polish again. When you use this simple tip, there will be no need for you
to walk around with chipped nail polish. All you need now is remover, cotton balls,
a pair of scissors and a couple of minutes.

Have a great day friends!
